​Drysdale Eye Care is open to see patients as walk-ins and by referral on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 to 4:00 at 3645 S. Main St., Blacksburg, Virginia.

We provide annual screening eye exams, with glasses prescriptions as needed. Patients with suspected disease will be referred to the appropriate specialist.

Please note:

• We do not bill or accept insurance. Payment is required in advance at the time of service.

• Patients requiring contact lenses will be referred to a contact lens specialist.

• We do not sell eyeglasses but are happy to recommend an optical shop convenient for you if you don’t already have one.

Medical Records & Prescription Refills

As I am no longer performing surgery, I can no longer respond to medication refill requests. You must call your pharmacy to have the request sent to your new eye doctor, who can request the records as outlined below.

If you need copies of your patient records, they will be available for release to other physicians from the office of Eye Care and Surgery in Blacksburg, listed below. All medical records are confidential and protected by federal privacy and security regulations. With your written authorization, a copy of all or part of your medical record can be released to you or transmitted to another eye doctor.

Medical Records Requests:

• Most new doctors will only need a copy of your most recent visit notes. You can request these Monday through Wednesday, 9 AM – 5 PM, and pick them up at no charge the next day.

• Requests must be made personally (not by voicemail) at least one day in advance by calling the records custodian below.

• Records will only be released in person to the patient (with a valid government-issued photo ID) or to the patient’s legal guardian or power of attorney holder with proper ID and documentation.

If a summary of your records is to be mailed to the address on file, a written request is sufficient. However, if your address has changed, verification in person with proper ID is required.

For full records transfer, your new doctor must submit the request with your signed authorization. The transfer cost includes a $20 search fee plus $0.50 per page and must be paid before records are released.
